Here we explain what is included when you register your child with Northborough-Southborough Youth Lacrosse:

  • A one year membership in USLacrosse (the governing body of our sport) which includes required supplemental insurance coverage plus a subscription to Lacrosse magazine. (Value $25)
  • Helmet decals for our program (Value $12 each helmet)
  • We pay for Referee fee's. The standard season is eight games long, plus the end of season three game Jamboree (not all programs participate in the Jamboree) giving each child the chance to play 11-14 games. In 2013 we had 16 teams play more than 182 games. The referee fees for that totaled over $5,000.
  • We go through about 100 balls per team per season. They disappear like crazy. At a cost of $1.25 each, we spend about one thousand dollars per year on balls.
  • Each team needs a game bag, which includes two sets of goalie equipment, a medical kit, two clocks, a horn etc. We field sixteen teams. We provide 32 goalie sticks (2 for each team) and 9 defense sticks for the U13 level.
  • Each team needs disposables such as ice packs, medical kit etc.
  • The Jamboree is a great way to end our season, however there is a fee to participate of $165 per team. This year we spent $2,310 to go to the Jamboree.
  • Their is a fee to participate in Mass Bay Youth Lacrosse League (MBYLL), which is $100 per Classic team, $995 per Select team plus the town fee. We will spend $3,390 to register our sixteen teams.
  • We pay Southborough a Field Use Fee to use the 911 Field, typically $4,200 per year.
  • We also pay Northborough a Field Use Fee for the use of the Route 135 field.
  • We make additional donations to the town to rent port-o-potty's.
  • We pay a fee each year to St. Mark's for using their cage.
  • We purchase a few season tickets to the Boston Cannons to support them and be used as rewards for the kids during the season. We also use them as raffle prizes at our end of season pizza party.
  • This website (which we hope you find very useful) costs us $600 per year.
  • Our program typically gets about 44 volunteer coaches, many of whom played lacrosse in high school or college. We currently have three coaches who played D1, two who played D2, four who played D3, and many who played in High School. We also have over 100 years of high school coaching experience in our ranks. We pay the insurance fee to register these volunteer coaches with USLacrosse. (Value......Priceless!)
This just gives you an idea of where the money goes to run our program. We are always interested in feedback, so if you want you can click on the feedback link on the left side of the home page and let us know how we are doing or ask us a question.
